Sec. 1. Membership to the corporation is open to any actively interested individual of a serious purpose at least sixteen years of age and his/her family. The age requirement may e waived with parental consent and participation, and by review and consent of the membership. Members must authentically portray a soldier of the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Company B, from the years 1862-1865, or a woman of the period, or upon membership approval, other characters of the period. The criteria for approval should be the same as those for military promotions except that a. can be waived, if appropriate. The Treasurer shall update the active list of members every three (3) months.
~ New recruits shall be given two years to outfit themselves in proper authentic uniform which shall consist of the following articles of clothing, accessories and weapons: Fatigue Jacket (four button sack coat) or Frock Coat; Federal Trousers; Forage Cap; Issue Shirt or Authentic Period Shirt; Oval Belt Plate; Wool Socks, Oval Box Plate; Cartridge Box; Cap Pouch; Brogans; Leather Cartridge Box Slings; U.S. Infantry Waist belt; and a Three Banded Enfield, or a Three Banded Springfield Musket.
~ New recruits will be expected to have a complete uniform by the end of their 1st year of membership, with the leather goods, weaponry, and other accouterments by the end of their 2nd year of membership. (the last two pages of these Bylaws show examples.(endued.tripod.com/recruitinginformation/))
~ After having obtained the aforementioned gear, a member, if he so desires, may obtain extra items for his impression which may include, but is not limited to, the following items: Slouch Hats, Straw Hats, Gaiters, Great Coats, Knapsacks, etc. Said optional gear to be displayed/used at the discretion of the ranking NCO.
Sec. 2. Dues shall be required from the members at the following rates: $20.00 per year, this includes his/her family.
Sec. 3. Members will conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the manners and modes of the period.
