Dear Sister~ I was relieved to read your last letter. It was most difficult for me to not return home with Mother being so ill. I must pen a note to Doctor Wilson soon. How is his lovely daughter? Delightful child. So sad the loss of her Mother. I am well. We will be stopping again later this afternoon. Spending a few days outside of a little town called Leonard's Mills. I hear there may be a bounty of food from which I can make the men a decent meal and with the stopping, perhaps bake a treat or two. The men are weary, but high spirited. We passed a farm earlier today, and Miss Teresa there gave me a basket brimming over with eggs for a breakfast treat. I am hoping to find some sausages to go with them and what little bacon we have left from our rations. The trees here are still quite heavy with apples and the fields had a good year for potatoes. Those will help warm the bellies. I shall get this posted to you today. Please do not worry if there is time before my next letter. I am to be quite occupied for a little while, but you will be in my thoughts. My love to Mother, Your Sister, Christabell
