My Dear Members of the 20th ME CoB Family~
I trust this finds you all well as we prepare for the coming celebrations.
I just received this from KelLee and following Sgt. Dudley's previous lead to keep everyone in the loop, I am forwarding this on to you all. While I am not one to use our list for outside activities, these folks are part of our Family and can use our love and support. So, whatever your beliefs may be, if you can spare a thought for them, I am certain they will feel your caring and support.
With deep appreciation,
Miss Rose

Merry Christmas to all. And a happy Advent season.
Before I begin the update, I want to send our love and prayers for all of you. You have been through this with us giving of all that you have. All of your support has kept us sane and wraps us in your love. I cannot thank you enough. With all that is on our plate, this Christmas will not be like prior years. It is unique and will continue to be. Because of that I am not sure if and when we will get out Christmas cards and other 'extras' as those. Within this message is all the best wishes, love, and prayers we can gather for each one of you.
This week has been trying. Mireille now has a 3rd wound even higher than the last. The middle wound has opened bigger and deeper. It is this wound that has brought us to our next ordeal. The bottom wound is actually looking better but that is now a mute point.
Mireille has surgery scheduled for Friday morning at 7:00 am. We must be at the hospital at 5:30 am (again). This surgery should last only 4 or less hours. They took a culture of the middle wound and will know by Friday if it has an infection that may need antibiotic, if so they will begin a regimen on Friday. Currently the plan, is to open the wound from her neck down to her bottom. He will clean out the wound completely. And IF all looks good and there are no obvious areas of serious infection, he will re-close the incision leaving a small opening in the lumbar area of her back (lower middle area). At that point they will put the wound-vac. This is in hopes that she will heal faster than she has. In some ways we feel this is a step back-wards since there is a 6-9 in area in the small of her back that 'appears' to have healed relatively well. But as the doctor says, it is essentially one wound even though it looks like 3 separate ones, one at the bottom and two in the higher area. He knows that he must see the whole incision along the spine to ensure it isn't festering things underneath the skin portion that looks okay.
The up side of this turn of events is that we are getting the dissolving stitching material removed. I believe deeply that this is the basis of the problems we have been plagued with from the start. She has never healed well with those type of stitches and each time it seems to get worse. And the other surgery she had at the same time as this back surgery has healed perfectly. It is on the front of her abdomen and that surgeon used regular type stitching material. It healed perfectly and still looks wonderful! So my prayer is that all of these healing problems have stemmed from the stitching material and that by removing the material, cleaning the area out, and restitching with regular stitching material with a wound vac draining the wound continuously, she will heal quickly and cleaning.
Please pray specifically for the next 2 days that she has NO infection set in any area at all. This is so very important right now. One of the openings goes clear down to her bones and you can see the steel rods they put into her back. This wound is also close to the top of her spine. If an infection set into this site, we would be dealing with a very critical and life threatening situation. Also a bad infection would mean the complete removal of the hardware, extensive antibiotic therapy and complete healing of the surgery site. Then once that is completely healed, they would begin again.... repeating the hardware insertion, scrapping of the bones, etc. I pray this is not His will that this occurs. Please join us in praying His will is that this surgery will begin the healing process and this will be it, no removal of the hardware but just welcoming healing and peace.
Thank you for taking the time to read all this.
Our love and prayers go with each one of you. And I thank you in advance for storming the gates of heaven with our petition.
Sincerely and Love,
KelLee Gray
