Sister, Sister, Sister....
Where do I begin? I fear I do not have the paper nor you the time to read everything I need to share, so I shall focus on a few key points.
As you know, I will not be traveling home this year for Memorial Day. The 20th is in Brownville and I belong here with them this year. I shall miss seeing you all, but know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know Father will not realize my absence, but please comfort Mother for me.
The Battle At Fort Knox is continuing to grow and getting more and more support. A lot of exciting things are happening! The 20th ME as well as 15th AL is getting a lot of recognition and publicity. Now to get more of the members to join in on the fun! Of course, their help is also necessary! The excitement from folks coming to Maine to support us is sometimes overwhelming. The best place to get regular updates is by signing up on the website as we post a weekly update as well as a poll question. A few of the recent developments include the oven at Fort Knox and supplying all attending with bread as well as other rations I have gotten donated. .... I'll let you check the website (ftknox.mainemilitia.com) for the other updates. If you sign up for the updates, you will see everything (almost as there are a few surprises in store) that is happening.
OH, yes.. the oven at Fort Knox.. as you know, I was given the honor to fire it up last week. I am still all a flutter. It was an honor to make and serve the first supper from the oven in over 112 years to the 20th ME folks who were at SOS. I am with hope to have it running again the weekend of June 19 +20th. Sunday, June 20th is free for all Maine citizens to visit the state parks. With hope, we will sell fresh baked treats to raise funds for BAFK. I am hoping to also have some 20th members volunteer to assist. If allowed, I will do it again over the July 4th Weekend! At BAFK, Michael Johnson has graciously offered to cook all weekend and be my mess chief. He will be in need of a number of assistants. Anyone interested, please let me know so I may pass your information on to him. He will be making food to feed not only the 20th, but also with hopes of the rest of the armies. Let's give him a hand in his support of BAFK... not to mention making history again! .
While at the fort last week, I met a wonderful military family. I will be working with them as representing our present military families at BAFK. Josh is with the 1136 Transportation unit presently deployed. I had the honor of spending some time with his wife, Heather, and their children. So, if you spot them at BAFK, make sure to say "hi".
We also have one official photographer so far for BAFK. I met him at the fort.. hmmm.... seems the fort is the place to meet folks of like minds. Also signed on a few volunteers!
Well, sister, my mind is racing with everything else to share, but I shall close for now and hope to see you soon to share more.
All my love,
Your Sister, Christabell
